EEWO!!! ₦300million goes missing from Saraki’s bedroom, police arrest aides & accountant

The Nigeria police in Ilorin reportedly questioned and then released several domestic aides as well as some members of the security detail assigned to Senate President Bukola Saraki after ₦300million mysteriously disappeared from the senator’s bedroom in Ilorin, capital of Kwara State.

SaharaReporters says an investigation by them confirmed that the money that went missing at the home of Mr. Saraki in Ilorin had just been ferried there by the state government in different foreign exchange denominations. They learned that Mr. Saraki called on Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to provide the cash to enable the senator to provide largesse to his supporters in Ilorin at the start of the Ramadan season.

This is not the first time that a gargantuan sum of cash connected to Mr. Saraki grew wings and disappeared. Last year, agents of the Department of State Security (DSS) attached to the embattled Senate President stole a huge sum of money that the owner of a bureau de change, who is a cousin of former military Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, was ferrying to Mr. Saraki. Several months after their arrest, the DSS agents have yet to be formally charged to court for robbery, SaharaReporters found out. A source within the agency told our correspondent that the DSS and Mr. Saraki were colluding to cover up the case. “Senator Saraki does not want the public to start asking questions about the source of the money. And the DSS does not want the role of our agents to become public knowledge,” the source disclosed.
Two reliable sources in Ilorin confirmed the latest heist of the illicit cash approved by Governor Ahmed of Kwara State and sent to Mr. Saraki’s home in the state capital. Mr. Saraki, a former governor of Kwara State, had anointed Mr. Ahmed as his successor.
One of our sources claimed that this was the second time in a month that large sums of money disappeared from the Senate President’s Ilorin mansion.
A police source in the state disclosed that detectives had quizzed and released the accountant to Mr. Saraki and several of his security and domestic aides. The source added that their hasty release was apparently a measure to ensure that the financial scandal did not attract publicity or media attention.

See New Date For NYSC Batch ‘A’ 2016 (STREAM II) Orientation Course

Beware Of Cyber Criminals, NYSC Warns Prospective Batch A Corps Members

NOTE:Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has released latest information on the status of prospective NYSC BATCH ‘A’ 2016 (STREAM II) corps members.

Following the postponement of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) BATCH ‘A’ 2016 (STREAM II) Orientation Course, prospective corps members have been told that the orientation course will start soon. NYSC management also said reports that it has scrapped the service are all lies.
A Statement from the NYSC Management in Abuja on Saturday said: “Management wishes to inform prospective NYSC Corps members that, based on the assurance received from the Federal Government regarding release of funds, the 2016 Batch ‘A’ (Stream II) Orientation course will start soon.
“Date of commencement will soon be announced and Prospective Corps members are, therefore, requested to watch out for specific date of the exercise, which will be made public as soon as all necessary logistics for effective conduct of the orientation course are in place.
“NYSC Management empathizes with the affected prospective Corps members, and appeals for continued patience even as all efforts on the matter are fast expedited.
“Also, contrary to report on certain online and social media platform on the scraping of NYSC by the Federal Government, there is no single official or personality capable of scraping the NYSC Scheme. Usually, since NYSC was establish through a decree of the Government in 1973, it would have to be terminated through a constitutional amendment from the National Assembly. Members of the public are advised to not believe any information concerning scraping or termination of National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) scheme.
“The NYSC scheme was created in a bid to reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian Civil war. The unfortunate antecedents in our national history gave impetus to the establishment of the National Youth Service Corps by decree No.24 of 22nd May 1973 which stated that the NYSC is being established “with a view to the proper encouragement and development of common ties among the youths of Nigeria and the promotion of national unity.”
“It was the need to look beyond the immediate present and to think of the future leadership of the country that necessitated the mobilization of certain categories of youths through the National Youth Service Corps Scheme. This was done with a view of giving them the proper guidance and orientation relevant to the needs of the country. The National Youth Service Corps Decree No. 24 which has now been repealed and replaced by Decree 51 of 16th June 1993, was then formally promulgated.
“A termination bill is not currently being reviewed or examined at any of the chambers of the National Assembly of Nigeria.
